Educational Innovations & Program Development

LearnWell Series 2002-2007

LearnWell CD: LearnWell, Learn to Think and Think to Learn, a comprehensive interactive multimedia study, thinking and life skills programme, was published in 2002 by EquipU4 (a business unit of Stellenbosch University). Thousands of Stellenbosch University students benefited from the programme between 2002 and 2006. Individual copies (CDs) and network versions were sold both nationally and internationally. Three versions were produced and were freely available on the intranet of Stellenbosch University for her students.

LearnWell for Study Success DVD: LearnWell for Study Success, Learn to Learn Well, a live, interactive study skills workshop was produced in 2006. All 2006 first-year students at Stellenbosch University received a copy of the DVD. This product was also marketed outside the university.

LearnWell4Life DVD: The LearnWell4Life DVD (Boost Your Brain for Study Success) replaced the above-mentioned DVD in 2007. Afrikaans, English and isiXhosa versions were produced. All three versions are available on the intranet of Stellenbosch University (since 2007 until now) and on the personalised wellness web sites of students. The majority of universities in South Africa, numerous high schools as well as hundreds of individuals have purchased copies or licenses from EquipU4.

Design Philosophy & Evolution

My curriculum design approach has evolved from early multimedia tools like LearnWell to cutting-edge innovation platforms: FlourishIQ for AI-powered personalized interventions, FlourishTalk for meaningful conversation facilitation, and the upcoming InspireWell4Life for daily wisdom and inspiration. Each program is designed to optimize student performance and development through scientifically-grounded wellbeing interventions. The progression shows a consistent focus on combining technological innovation with psychological science, creating evidence-based, individualized and gamified interventions that address the whole student experience - from basic study skills to comprehensive flourishing frameworks.

Impact & Reach

From the thousands of students who benefited from LearnWell between 2002-2006 to the current faculty-wide implementation of i-Flourish and Flourishing Engineers programs, these curricula have directly impacted student success across multiple disciplines. The programs have been adopted by universities across South Africa and continue to evolve with the latest research in positive psychology and educational technology.
